10/8/08 UPDATED 2:58 PM Just spent all morning down the island and some time in Seaside Park. There are pods of big bunker everywhere. I drove the entire length of IBSP and every 200 yards or so was a different pod of bunker. I would watch them for a while but they never seemed to have any pressure on them to push the beach. You would see a couple of big splashes which meant there were fish there, but I guess when you maybe 10 fish in a pod of bunker that prolly goes from to to bottom, a plug doesn't have much chance. One of the schools cam pretty close to the beach. Close enough where I got some really good casts into them without a touch. I threw diamond jigs and Basswood swimmers into the pod, to the left of it, and to the right of it. Not a touch. The wind is kicking up a little outta the southeast so maybe on the outgoing or into the night might be good. You definitely want to be on the beach when the fish from the north get here and find this bait.YESTERDAY'S REPORT: UPDATED 8:58 AM Just had 5 bass reported in. All caught around the Judge's Shack on clams. One fish was in the 25 pound range, but the angler dropped him in the wash.
UPDATED 8:38 AM Not many anglers trying so I have no news. I will try to get out there after work. Perfect weather and conditions for fishing.
