Heat wave nrealy 90 degrees makes the night time the right time to fish.The best striper bite has been at night in the Indian River Inlet. Floating sand fleas is the best bait. Fish the incoming tide.
There are some whispers of trout. Storm lures, Bombers or bucktails fished close to the rocks should do the trick on the evening incoming water.
Delaware tautog season closed on Monday, September 1 and will remain closed through the 28th. Black drum, small red drum and sheepshead have been reported along the rocks in recent days.
Small bluefish have hit the surf. Fresh bait is best but has been hard to come by. The mullet just are not here in any appreciable numbers.
The 11th Annual Delaware Seashore Fall Surf Fishing Classic will be held on Saturday and Sunday, September 27-28. More than $15,000 in cash and prizes will be at stake.
The 2nd Annual DMS Invitaional Surf Fishing Tournament will be held on Saturday and Sunday, October 11-12. The DMS is offering a new truck prize to the person that breaks the existing Delaware state record for bluefish.

The offshore fleet is reporting a good white marlin bite from the Baltimore Canyon south to the Poormans. Capt Tom Murphy on the MEGA-BITE had one white marlin release, 2 wahoo and 12 dolphin last Friday. The water temp was 77-78 degrees and they fished skirted hoos.
