We started the day on some grass beds, and within an hour had our limit of school dolphin, so we ran further offshore looking for marlin. Within 20 minutes of setting out, Wes Utley, who has fished and worked on boats since he was 17, was hooked up to his dream….a blue marlin for the first time in his life….. after 30 minutes, with several exciting series of jumps, we had the leader and Wes had earned his release of a 250 lb blue marlin on 30 lb line on a light standup outfit…..great angling….Congrats Wes.
Wes, from Greensboro, also released a white marlin later in the day, as did Henry Braxton, West Paylor and Tim Earnhardt….all earning release citations as the boys warmed up for their return trip to Mexico with us this coming season.

For many reasons, mine and the entire charterboat fleet's business is off this fall….sucks to cause marlin and dolpin fishing is outstanding right now with reports of more north of us working this way. Anyway, if the hurricanes do not pound us in the next week or so, excellent dolphin and marlin fishing should be available the next two weeks at least. I have only a few trips scheduled so if you need to get out of the office and on the water, give me a shout….. if you do not have a full group, I might have some folks to join you!
