Grumpy's Bait and Tackle NJ Fishing Reports 9/29

The bass were quite cooperative yesterday as they made their way into the surf to feed on broken clams. The water was still a little rough and stained but it didn't stop them from eating clams and chasing plugs and shads. The jetty had a lot of action in the morning and fish were taken from all the local beaches as well. There wasn't any one place better than another.
Just a few of yesterdays weigh ins
Ryan Haines Bass 29" 6.8 lbs on a Grumpy clam
Mike Gallagher Bass 31.5" 9.9 lbs on a Grumpy clam
Florida Bob had two bass 30" 7.8 lbs and 32" 10.2 lbs both on Grumpy clams. Seems nuttin beats a Grumpy Clam.
On a special note 9 year old Patrick Howey stopped by with a 29" 7'4lb bass caught on a Grumpy clam. Paul said Patrick was so proud that he didn't want to let it go so Paul could weigh it. Hope Patrick comes down for the Governors Tournament this week end. We will be well stocked for the weekend.
I can see that Grumpy finally remembered how to use a computer and he got a fishing report in. Next time I'll send him down with instructions or I'll have the girls at the Crews Inn help him out. Maybe if I build him another rod and send him down again he will forget to come back and Happys Tackle will live on and on. Glad to see the boys are catching fish but I didn't see any mention as to how the pelican fishing was. Think Grumpy is hiding something????
Paul has been caught on many occasions humming and singing (we don't have music in the shop) and I think I'll get some ear plugs. Ray is all smiles over the phone calls about his birthday so you can keep calling him. Life is good at Happys…………Mike
