Capt. Ray reported the local scup fishing was awesome today with many of the customers catching their limit of good size scup and today featured some real big platters in the 2 to 3lb range as well for the first time this scup season. Those who did not limit had at least 30 keepers apiece. Not as many keeper sea bass today but still a few and the pool was taken with a fine 6lb blackfish.YET ANTOHER DOUBLE DIGIT DOORMAT TODAY!!!
Capt. Mike reported a good day on the fluke and sea bass boat with some real big fish taken today. It was not a fast pick but anglers chipped away at the fluke and sea bass and quite a few anglers ended up with 3 to 5 nice fluke each and up to a half dozen or more sea bass apiece. Now for the jumbos, in the sea bass category there was one fish that tipped the scales at just under 6lbs with a good handful of others over 3lbs. Now for the fluke!! Kyung S Kang from Flushing, NY had the biggest fish of the day and the second biggest fluke of the year with his 30 inch 12.5 lb monster!! What a fish!! Runner up was Pak Yung from Woodside, NY with his fine 9lb slab and the next biggest fish on the boat was 8 lbs. A bunch of other fish in the 5lb range as well. A few big scup mixed in as well. For those keeping track, Capt. Mike can lay claim to the three biggest fluke boated aboard the Frances Fleet so far this season and all the fish in the 12 to 13 lb range!! Way to go Capt. Mike!! There will be just one boat tomorrow due to the weather forecasted and it will sail at 8am on the Gail Frances and will be a combo scup and sea bass and fluke trip.
