It was obvious that the eye of tropical storm Hanna passed over the NC/SC border which is basically Little River Inlet after surveying the erosion on Bird Island. Surprisingly there was a great bite of larger Redfish on the incoming tide on Sunday despite the water being dirty and full of debris. Finger mullet drifted along the bottom are as always the bait of choice. The last couple of days the rising tide has been the best bite for these monster Reds and today we caught several fish between the 32 and 42 inch range. The flounder fishing has slowed some but should improve with water clarity. Poling or wading the flooded grass flats at high tide has been a great way to catch slot sized Reds but lots of scouting is involved. Look for these grass flats close to your favorite intracoastal waterway Redfish hot spots for the best action, weedless baits are a must. Now is the time to fish here for the large Reds and October is prime time for everything. Catch ya on the next tide.
