Offshore: September is the month that the wahoo show up in large numbers of shore. Hannah shuld not have messed things up very much offshore so we are hoping the the wahoo will still cooperate. The last reports that I got were a few wahoo around the 90 ft. Drop and the Tripple Terraces down south. There are till some sailfish being caught and a few dolphin still.
Inshore: The Spanish mackerel fishing is was just about as good as it gets before Hannah visited. The waters are starting to clear up and the Spanish should still be there. There have been good numbers of large Spanish caught trolling both down the western beach and up around the Cape Lookout shoals. Larger Spanish are being caught using live finger mullet and peanut shad. There are still plenty of 1 to 2 lb. bluefish being caught as well. The king mackerel bite has picked up some too! Just outside and east of the Beaufort shipping channel has been doing pretty good, as well as out around the Dead Tree Hole.
Inside: Inside the sound and marshes we are still having very good luck catching redfish and some speckled trout as well as a feew flounder back in the shallow water. As far as catching larger species, the shark fishing is still very hot insde the inlet and the Pamlico sound has really caught on fire for the old red drum from 30 to 60 lbs. Catching half a dozen to 2 or 3 dozen of these large older drum per trip is not very hard to do.
Piers: Blue fish, and spanish, few spots, sea mullet, and flounder.
Charters: We are now booking for old red drum in the Pamlico sound, redfish, speckled trout, spanish mackerel, kings, amberjacks and sharks.
