Offshore: Sorry that I have no recent updates due tot eh weather. Things should be picking up after this Northeaster though! The wahoo bite has finally turned on this past weekend. There were good numbers of wahoo caught this weekend both south of the Big Rock and inshore of the Big Rock. The wahoo have some size to them as well.. There were plenty of 50 to 60 lb. hoo's caught. There were good numbers of gaffer solphin as well as plenty of bailer dolphin and a few sailfish caught as well.
Inshore: The Spanish mackerel fishing was very hot this past weekend as well. tTe Spanish are starting to school up for the last fall run. These Spanish usually are larger sSanish than you catch in the summer. They are feeding on schools of glass minnows and small mullet. There are good numbers of false albacore along the beach as well. They are the 4 to 8 lb. size albacore and they are feeding on the smaller glass minnows. Anglers using Stingsilvers and Maria plugs are working very well on the albies. Flies are working very well too!
Inside: Inside the sound and marshes we are still having very good luck catching redfish and some speckled trout as well as a feew flounder back in the shallow water. As far as catching larger species, the shark fishing is still very hot insde the inlet and the Pamlico sound has really caught on fire for the old red drum from 30 to 60 lbs. Catching half a dozen to 2 or 3 dozen of these large older drum per trip is not very hard to do.
Piers: Blue fish, and spanish, few spots, sea mullet, and flounder.
Charters: We are now booking for old red drum in the Pamlico sound, redfish, speckled trout, spanish mackerel, kings, amberjacks and sharks.
