Shimano held a seminar at Bill's Sport Shop on the new Lucanus and Butterfly jigging systems. The seminar was attended by 27 anglers. If you want info on jigging come into Bills. Our staff attended the seminar and is well informed on this new method of fishing. The Division of Parks and Recreation announced that Cape Henlopen State Park's Point Beach has reopened. The Oceanside beach has opened to pedestrians and surf-fishing vehicles, while the Bayside beach will remain closed until Wed., Oct. 1, for use by shorebirds migrating south for the winter.

The "Fishermen Identification Network" (FIN) will become effective Jan 1 2009 so that Delaware anglers will not be subjected to a Federal license and fee. Fish and Wildlife will create a Fisherman Identification Number or FIN. The way the system is setup is if a person that is going to go on a boat which is licensed or is 65 or older will need to call a toll free number and give their name and address. They will then be given a FIN number at no cost. This should capture those fishermen now lost in the current system. Charter/head boats and surf tag holders would not have to do this as the data will be captured using other methods.

Here are some of the reports we have received since last week:
