From Sue Foster Oyster Bay Tackle:
"Fishing this week was kinda slow after the big blow then improved somewhat as the week progressed. We saw a little run of puppy drum on the Oceanic Pier which is unusual. We had more and more reports of bluefish in the surf, though some days were hard to hold bottom. The first big red drum on Assateague was caught and released. Flounder were here and there after the big Hanna blow. Croaker bit offshore. Further offshore, wahoo and dolphin were biting."
Assateague surf saw big sharks, a few kingfish, snapper blues, a couple croakers and the first red drum release of the season. "Plug" posted on Stripers Online: "Fished AI/MD Sunday afternoon/evening 4:30-11:00. Ran 2 rods. No sooner got my first set of baits in the water when a sandbar took off with the cob head. As I was walking back up the beach aftr releasing the shark my other rod went off. About 25 minutes later this pretty thing hit the beach. A 46" red drum!"
Billy Dorey, 9 years old, caught a 6.91lb., 25.25 inch flounder on live spot in the Indian River Bay.

Also, as of last Thursday we had completed pouring five of the six boat ramps at the new Lewes facility. Remaining tasks including pouring the last ramp, pouring the apron, completing the courtesy piers, completing the storm water retention basins, and finally blacktopping the parking lot. There is a lot to do yet as you can tell when we have our meeting September 25th, you will be able to judge the progress for yourself. All interested parties are welcome to attend this meeting.
