9/29/08 UPDATED 12:04 PM Just had 2 more bass weighed in. Matt Blithe of Pennsauken brought in a 29 incher from Area 20 on clams, and Jim Holt from Bayville also brought in a 29 incher on clams from the north end of IBSP.UPDATED 9:55 AM Just got another from IBSP. One of my early morning customer has landed a nice 30 inch bass on clams and the angler fishing next to him has landed 3 short bass on clams at Area 20-21.

UPDATED 8:47 AM Johnny G. just called me again and he has put another keeper in the box from Lavallette so he's done fishing clams for the day and now it's time for catch and release.

UPDATED 8:40 AM Just got 3 more reports. Johnny G. is fishing clams in Lavallette and he has 3 fish, one 29 1/2 incher he put in the box. Michael S. is fishing a little north of Area 7. He and his buddy have landed 10 bass in the 25 - 29 inch range on AVAs and eel teasers. Shell E. Caris went down to The Pocket and didn't see much of anything caught there. Seems like all the action is from Area 7 and to the north again. Beautiful, perfect day.

UPDATED 7:16 AM Got my first report of the morning. Small bluefish being caught on 24th avenue on T-Hex metals.

UPDATED 5:21 AM Haven't talked to anyone that fished last night yet. The wind is a perfect northwest and the conditions should be sweeeeeet.

YESTERDAY'S REPORT: UPDATED 2:33 PM Just had 2 more keeper bass weighed in. Anthony Volkes of Pembeton got his first 28" keeper on a diamond jig at Area 23 and Pat Nichols of Maple Shade got a 28 incher on clams at Area 20.

UPDATED 2:00 PM Just had a 15 pound 9 ounce bass weighed in by Tony Polito of Toms River from Midway Beach on clams. Really nice fish and our largest keeper of the young Fall season.

UPDATED 12:52 PM Just had a customer that was in before come back and have to reload. Now listen to this, it's not a misprint. They are catching keeper fluke(which they are releasing) on 11th avenue in Seaside Park with SANDEELS washing right up on the beach. Does this sound like the "Old Days" to those of you that remember the way it used to be down here????? I'm getting chills thinking about it.

UPDATED 12:21 PM Some anglers are starting to come off the beach now to take a break or because they limited out. The sun is actually starting to come out now.

UPDATED 10:51 AM Just had 3 keeper bass weighed in. Bill Orem, who I mentioned at Gillikin's before, ended up getting 2 sister fish weighing 10 pounds each on clams. Mack Ryan of Toms River, landed his first keeper bass ever outta The Pocket on bunker weighing 11 1/4 pounds. BTW The Pocket is starting to see a lot of fish now as well. Looks like a great day to me. NO RAIN.

UPDATED 9:35 AM Just got 2 more reports. Regular Bill O. has been at Gillikin's for all of 1 hour and he has lost 5 bass and landed two 27 inchers on clams. Another angler V.M. is getting a bunch of bass on diamond jigs at the Maintenance Shack. Gotta love those sandeels!!! STAY NORTH OF GILLIKIN'S. BTW, NOT A DROP OF RAIN HERE SINCE 4 AM.

UPDATED 9:16 AM Just talked to a couple of anglers who were down at the pocket. They said it's two deep with fisherman down there and no one is hooking up with a thing. Stay to the North end of IBSP or fish the north beaches like Seaside Park and Ortley.

UPDATED 9:10 AM Getting a lot of small bass and a couple of keepers at one of the usual spots, The Top O The Mast on 24th avenue in Seaside Park according to another customer that had to come in and reload.

UPDATED 6:55 AM Just talked to another customer that fished yesterday. He had about 15 short bass on clams. He was right in a perfect cut he found. As I was writing this, another customer came in to buy clams and he saw an angler land a keeper bass right on 7th avenue in Seaside Park 20 minutes ago. Starting to heat up??? Maybe.

UPDATED 5:46 AM The surf sounds subdued and it certainly hasn't hindered the fishing anyway, just the amount of anglers. Talked to 2 customers this morning who landed 5 bass at Gillikins last night, 2 being keepers of 30 and 32". No rain. They predicted 3 inches of rain yesterday and we barely got a drizzle.
