9/25/08 UPDATED 5:04 AM A few anglers that fished the north jetty yesterday early in the morning and before 11AM scored bass on plugs for at least a couple of hours at a time on shads. Local angler Lance(I'm Scott Erwin's Father)Erwin landed at least 15 fish up to 15 pounds. Not much off the beach as the school of birds and bait refused to come in closer than the tip of the jetty. I don't know what today is going to be like. The wind is the worst it's been in 3 days. When the sun comes up I'll know more. Now is a good time to get those reels cleaned and greased, new line, and reload for the Fall.YESTERDAY'S REPORT: UPDATED 3:31 PM My wife and I got to the Pocket around 11:30 AM. I started to throw my trusty Gibbs Pencil when all hell broke loose. Mullet and big bunker everywhere being chased by 12 pound bluefish. We nailed them for about and hour to an hour and a half straight until it finally slowed when they moved out to the tip of the jetty. They are still there, we just had to get home. They will prolly come in later on the dropping tide. On our way off the beach, whenever we saw birds diving, we would stop and pick up a bluefish here and there. Let me just mention something so I don't get yelled at. The surf was rough. Obviously very fishable, but if you are not experienced, you don't have waders, or you just don't like fishing in rough conditions, be warned.
UPDATED 7:53 AM Just talked to John G. The surf is the same as yesterday, fishable and clean. The wind is pretty much the same. No word on any fish yet. Few anglers trying.
