Sorry for the delay in posting a report this week. The first three weeks of August are the busiest of the year here at Old Inlet. It has been a mad house. The sanity and good fishing of the fall season are just a few short weeks away.
The surf has by far been thost productive fishing. Pretty typical for this time of the year. Bloodworms, real or fake, are the hot bait on the surf. Fresh bunker and finger mullet have been good for the few bluefish that are here. Fresh mullet are just starting to show up.

Plenty of small stuff on the beach. Spot, kingfish and croakers with sharks and skates in the mix. Heard a couple fo reports of small blues on the beach again.

Bluefish and shad are in the Indian River Inlet on the incoming tides during the day. A few croakers reported as well.

There are a pile of small croakers in the river. Little stuff - six inches. We did see some eating size spot in the mix.

Striped bass fishing as been slow, but that is to be expected in August. The best bet is to fish live spot from a boat. Otherwise use live eels at night from the rocks on the incoming tide.

Sheepshead and tautog in the rocks. Use live sand fleas and live green crabs. Look for puppy drum to show any day.

Capt Gene Drowell called to report a good flounder bite out around B Buoy. Only four keepers among 20 fish but steady fishing.
