In the afternoon today, we had the Whitsey family from Arkansas aboard for an evening bluefish/spanish trolling trip. We didnt expect much, because the fishing had been slower in the morning, however, we were pleasantly surprised to find the spanish were back and biting in force. They were in close to the beach just off dam neck and the same good class of fish we have been seeing, with very few of those pesty bluefish mixed in. We caught our limit in an hour and a half and it was all good. The Whitsey group left very happy with a big bag of spanish fillets to make them happy for at least a couple meals.

The spanish fishing had slowed considerably everywhere this morning. We did have a nice pick going on at Dam Neck, but the Navy ran us out of the area because they were gonna fire off some target rockets, so we werent allowed within a couple miles of the area where the fish seemed the tightest. As I worked toward the south, the water got cooler. The spanish fishing wasnt the four at a time we had earlier at the week, but we did have a somewhat steady pick of a nice class of fish. We also had one nice one that ate a ballyhoo that I thought was gonna make citation but came up an ounce or two short. After working on the spanish for a while, we stopped on a wreck and bailed triggers and spades for a few minutes before going back to the inlet.
