Capt. Keith reported an excellent AM half day this morning with the fluke. Not only was there a decent amount of keepers but plenty of shorts kept the action going all morning. Two anglers had three nice fish apiece to take home with hi hook catching 15 fluke for the morning. Ron Rego had a brace of fluke in the 5lb range as part of his 3 keeper catch. A couple keeper sea bass and a handful of good size scup mixed in as well. We are hopeful for a repeat this afternoon!
Capt. Mike, Don and Paul reported the first Tuna trip of the year was a smashing success. It was certainly all about YELLOWFIN TUNA on this trip with explosive action with small keeper Yellowfin. There were some limits as well as a lone 200lb Bigeye Tuna! There was also one lone good size Albacore. A pair of Blue Marlin estimated at 350 to 400lbs apiece were on for awhile providing some truly thrilling moments but alas they both got the better of the tackle and are free to provide sport another day. This is truly an exceptional start to the 2008 Tuna season and we will be back out there early next week.

Capt. Rich reported a fair to decent day on the 7am to 4pm fluke and sea bass boat with a pretty equal mix of both species today. Biggest fluke was around 7lbs. A slow but steady pick throughout the day. Next 7am boat sails tomorrow morning aboard the Gail Frances.

Capt. Keith reported a decent midday half day trip with lots of action on short fluke and some really good size fish up to 9lbs mixed in. Some platter size scup to 2lbs as well but very few sea bass this afternoon. One angler had 4 keepers out of a catch of 16 fish and had the 9lbr plus another one around 4lbs. That fellow had his limit catch out of 31 fish for both half day outings. Not bad for late August on the beach!!! A few other fish in the 5lb range as well on the boat today. The tandem bait rig was hot today with just plain bait, one strip of squid and one spearing and no color or blades or anything else.

Capt. Chris reported a good evening half day trip with customers scoring some really nice fluke to nearly 8lbs. Many of the customers came in to the shop pleased with how good the fishing was and most took home some fresh fluke fillets for dinner. Customers also had some big scup and keeper sea bass making for a great night of local sunset fishing along Rhode Island's south shore beaches.
