Fishing the grassbeds at flood tide morning and evening Using finger mullet and peeler crabs has been successful. Capt. Lee and Milt tried really hard and ended catching a few of them. There were also bluefish in the mix.
Kim Wilheim from Hampstead MD was fishing with Captain Charlie on the Island Queen and had a peculiar catch today, a Mantis Shrimp. She actually used it for bait to hopefully catch a big flounder since flounder do love them but we did not get one. As far as other fish, we caught small sea bass and 4 throw back flounder and had six people fishing today. We had a large spot and a croaker yesterday. Have marked a lot of fish probably croaker but the east wind must have them scared to bite. Well that's is fishing I can only hope it will get better cause it sure cannot get any worse.
Here is my wife with Gemma hanging out at Capt. Steves.
It was another wonderful day here on the island. The surf was good this morning as Dan and Ann had about a dozen bluefish and a lot of spots. The spot turned on for a few hours this morning ending about 9:30 am. There were a few more caught throughout the day in spurts. The bluefish were mostly caught on fresh mullet. It was really busy today as people are getting their last vacations in before school starts. It only gets better from here the weather cools down a bit the bigger fish will start moving in. Chincoteague continues to be a great place to visit throughout the Fall and Winter months. It's been a long day see you at the shop. Jimmy
