Offshore: The offshore fishing is starting to pick up just a little bit now. The wahoo bite is just starting to get going. Usually around the first of September is when the wahoo bite really start dong well. With these cooler than normal temperatures for August the bit might just start a little bit early. There are still sailfish and a hand full of dolphin hanging around as well.
Inshore: Spanish mackerel fishing is still doing very well just outside of the Beaufort Inlet and up along the Cape Lookout shoals. There are 1-2 lb. bluefish mixed in with the Spanish. WE have been seeing more king mackerel just outside of the Beaufort Inlet , east of the shipping channel. Some of these kings are in the 20 to 30 lb. range and live bait is the best way to catch them. Fishing around the wrecks and reefs is still producing good catches of amberjacks and a few barracuda
Inside: Inside the sound and marshes we are still having very good luck catching redfish and some speckled trout as well as a feew flounder back in the shallow water. As far as catching larger species, the shark fishing is still very hot insde the inlet and the Pamlico sound has really caught on fire for the old red drum from 30 to 60 lbs. Catching half a dozen to 2 or 3 dozen of these large older drum per trip is not very hard to do.
Piers: Blue fish, and spanish, few spots, sea mullet, and flounder.
Charters: We are now booking for old red drum in the Pamlico sound, redfish, speckled trout, spanish mackerel, kings, amberjacks and sharks
