Bay Flats Lodge Fishing Report 8/16/08

- boats and 21 guests hit the Bay Flats Friday and plenty of fish were caught, while mostly due to the wind calming down. Captain Chris Castillo put Brett Smith party on full limits, 20 trout 4 reds wade fishing with live bait, and Captain James Welder fished Jimmy W. group full limits, and 20 trout 4 reds wade fishing with bait. Captain Jason Wagenfehr's fisherman caught 14 trout 7 reds with most reds over 25". Captain Harold Dworaczk fished James M. and son with 12 trout landed. Captain TJ Christensen picked up 13 fish for Doug B. party. Captain Nathan Beabout came in with 10 trout with VV party. Captain David McClelland group finished with 15 trout and a lot of small fish that were released. Best action has been over hard sand & grass patches wade fishing with lures or live croaker. The crews that wade fished both picked up some really nice upper slot reds.The bay is in good shape, but tides are extremely low right now. San Antonio Bay shell is starting to show promise like it did before Hurricane Dolly. If the wind stays calm, fishing should explode both in the surf, ESB, SAB and shorelines of Matagorda Island.

The lodge welcomed Many S. Vet clinics along with guest speakers for a two-day event this weekend.
