Bay Flats Lodge 8/01/08

Around 10:00 AM on Thursday morning I received a phone call from one of the Bay Flats Lodge guides "We only need a few more, plus we're almost out of bait." I asked him, "Where are you?" Well, I haven't moved since anchoring up. This Captain limited out on trout, plus a few bonus reds for his efforts, while part of a 7-boat event with TP Inc.Props also go out to another Team BFL guide for being flexible in his plans, and adjusting to conditions early in the day. Another solid box of trout checked in while wade fishing grass flats, and sand. He also was able to put his party on full-allowed catches of trout. The other 5-boats averaged double digits to near that, still respectable for a half day on the water.

WEATHER "MAKING ADJUSTMENTS"

With an approaching frontal line dipping down into Texas, the wind is pumping at a ridiculous speed from the south. Knowing where to set up, "Just out of the wind" has been the difference between solid catches and light stringers. Where to set up early in the morning from day-to-day is the key. There is a short window of time, where the fish are biting best in the morning, if one is not set up correctly, you may be behind the eight ball from the get go.

MOVING FORWARD

The lodge welcomed 19-guest on Thursday evening for a 5-boat trip on Friday…Reports to come. We also look forward to the weekend with a 2-day event planned with Matt S. and 8-boats. Let's hope the wind settles down, and we can put these guys on a trip of a lifetime.
