Fishing was very good in the afternoon, we had 19 keeper fluke with blues, porgies and sea bass in the mix. Gabby Hassan even got a striped bass for the second pool, and the first place in the fluke pool was won by Don Brooks.
Full Day Block Island Fluke Fishing
Captain Carl reports that fishing today in Block Island was phenominal! The whole boat caught its limit of fluke with a few seabass and porgies in the mix too. We had many big fish today and the average size was over 4lbs. First place in the pool went to Mike Shapiro with an 8.1 pounder. Mike also caught a 7.15lb fluke today. Mike caught 14 keepers today (of course only retaining his limit!!) The second biggest fish today was caught by Mr La with a 7.85 pounder. Also Mr Ron Johnson caught seven keepers (only keeping 4) up to 7.15lbs. Honourable mention must also go to Wess Manigolt from Laurelton, NY. Wess who was a first timer to the All Day fluke boat kept 4 nice but caught seven that would have been keepers. Although he got off to a slow start by mid-day his rod was always bent! This newcomer to the All Day Boat out fished most of the regulars!! Nice job Wess! Todays trip was a fantastic success but please note it does sell ouy Very quickly so reservations are a must! You can make reservations for any of our fishing trips by logging onto our website at www.vikingfleet.com or calling the Montauk office on 631 668 5700.
Full Day Porgies & Sea Bass
Porgy fishing was a little slower today, but we still managed to pull one out with a couple of good drifts at the end of the day. There was also a better showing of 14 to 16 inch sea bass and a few keeper fluke to help round out a days catch. Thursday's bad weather may have unsettled the bottom, however things should bounce back shortly. Ron G won the porgy pool with a 3.1 pounder and Hidecki Ohuna took the edible pool with a 4lbs fluke.
Half Day Fluke Fishing AM
Captaan Steven reports a pretty good morning fluke trip today. We had gorgeous weather to go along with it too. Andrew Reda from Scarsdale won the pool with a 4.1lbs fluke and second place was won by Pete Ferguson who had a 3.75lbs fluke.
