Go fly a kite, is what Captain Brant did yesterday. Brant headed out to sea armed with a SFE Kite and custom set up. Kite fishing is an exciting way to go, you get to watch the bait skip along the top of the water and see the fish clear the water and attack. Sometimes it takes several tries before the prey is nailed Brant and Captain Chris Burrows are our resisent experts on kite fishing. By day's end Brant had caught some King, Mahi and a treasure trove of other fish. Our other boats also had charters and faired as well along with some good sized Amberjack included, which were absconded by Captain Robert of the Tide High Parasail Boat. All reported plenty of bait, especially down by the Little River Jetties. We were also informed of Blue Fish just off the piers, which make for excellent bait.On the inshore note, Jeff Beck and some friends went Flounder and Red Drum fishing. Jeff reported plenty of mullet minnows and pogies. He found most of his bait in the concrete canals at OIB.
During the course of the day he limited out on Flounder, though a lot of them were small. The Flounder were behind Sunset Beach. They also got several Red Drum in the 20 some inch range. The Drum were caught on a falling tide, as the bait was being sucked out of the grass. The guys used minnows and pogies. The Drum bit better on the pogies. Jeff further said the was better on bait tipped with buck tails
