Just talked with Johnny Calhoon, captain of the "Bad Ride" Sea Pro. He and friends were fishing today and caught a slew of red drum. Johnny was fishing grassy areas around structure in the ICW using mud minnowsIs this supposed to be the summer dull drums? I've seen more fish, and bait both in shore and off shore caught in the last week than anytime this summer. Perhaps the winds have laid down, surely those who know more than I can offer reasons. At any rate, if you keep up with the fishing report you don't need me to tell you that the fishing is hot. Try to find a way around the fuel prices and come to the coast and get into the action.

Capt. Rickey failed to include the weight of Katie Warren's doormat flounder from earlier today in his report. The fish weighed a whopping 7.70lbs!! I was very excited to see this young angler catch that trophy, and the only downside is that it may be a long time before she catches another one like that. So congratulations to Katie for an exceptional catch.

Captain Chris Dew of the OIFC 2 had a half day charter today and reported catching several kings and dolphin. One of the kings weighed 19 pounds while the rest were a little smaller. The mahi ranged in the teens also. Captain Chris was pulling dead cigar minnows in the Shark Hole area. He said they hit on the top as well as on the downrigger. Yesterday's charter was a carbon copy with the addition of a citation barracuda.

Captain Roger was on the OIFC 1 and reported a buffet of cobia, mahi, and kings. He worked the 65 foot area and pulled dead cigar minnows as well as live bait. The bait was located about one half mile before the Lockwood Folly Inlet.

Captain Brant hasn't done a post on Team OIFC's victory in the Got Em On King Tournament. Here's a couple of links that will help tell the story. Check out WWAY and the Got Em On 's web sites. Also, Austin Aycock and Tripp Hooks won the junior angler division. Please check out the links and congratulations guys!!!!!!!
