The NJ DEP Division of Fish and Wildlife's Artificial Reef Program had a busy 2007 improving habitat on the state's network of 15 artificial reef sites. Specific information on the placement of 500 prefabricated reef ball units deployed on the Ocean City and the Wildwood reefs is available on the division's website at http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/news/2008/reefballs07.htm .

Among deployments planned for this summer is the sinking of a 51-foot fire boat from the New York City Fire Department. The 34-ton steel boat will become a memorial reef on the Sea Girt Reef.
