While heavy rains and extreme tides made the last couple of days tough on anglers, earlier in the week the action was pretty darn good and the variety of species was at an all-time high for what has become to be thought of as a very lackluster summer fishing season. We witnessed and enjoyed plenty of lite/tackle action on Blues, Ladyfish, and Mackeral in the near-shore waters. The marsh flats just off the beach also offered plenty of challenging action on some very nice sized Sharks. The Sharks are averaging between 20-100lbs while schools of Jacks and Reds were being seen and intercepted on a daily basis. Hopefully this coming week, the water cleans up some and the fishing resumes to what it normally is this time of year. Lots of variety and plenty of action in calm and comfortable surroundings. Who knows, maybe even a Tarpon or 2 or several hundred will grace the area waters with their presence this coming week. Everyone keep their fingers crossed.
