Today we had the Weaver group aboard for a morning of trolling. Scott and Justin were working in the cockpit for me today. Seas were a little bumpy with the 10 knot NE winds and residual swell left over from tropical storm Bertha. The bluefish were thick around the steel pier with many doubles and triples coming to the back of the boat, but not many spanish mackerals mixed in. We went around to the cape and the mackerals were not there on the break where they have been, so we went back over to the steel pier and caught a bunch more blues. The girls were having a good time watching the dolphins play while we caught blues, but after a while it got repetitive so we went closer to the inlet and looked for a shark. While drifting, we managed to catch skates in pretty quick order, but no shark bites. The guys on board claimed that they had too much to drink the night before, but they looked seasick to me and the girls decided that the boys really needed to get to shore, so home we went.
