July 17 - 23, 2008 -
Another excellent weekend of fishing down on the bayou. Lots of redfish, and lots of bass made it on ice this week. All trips ran without issues, and only one got chased in by weather. The redfish bite still remains very steady, and most fish are between 4-6 pounds, with some heavy hitters around 12 plus being released. Still fishing around Little Lake, Turtle Bay areas with Black and Chartreuse H&H Cocahoes on a 4 lb gold spinner. Had a few windy days that kind of stained the water in some places, but all it really did was push all of the schooling reds to the places that have the best water clarity. We have been spanking the bass in the evenings. Just a few minutes from the marina could land you on some beautiful grass beds that are loaded with those beautiful green trout. Catching a few on a spinner bait, and buzz bait, but the ticket has been a grape colored curly tail worm, with a 1/8 ounce bullet weight and Gamagatsu hooks.

Today I had the price family in the morning, and I ran a bass trip in the afternoon with Marcel and Eric. The weather in the morning only gave us a limited amount of time to fish, but we ended up with seven nice reds in the short time we fished, all caught on spinner baits. The weather settled down in the afternoon, cloudy, windy, but no rain. Perfect Bass fishing weather. 30 plus bass, all caught on worms, just what these guys were looking for. More photos to follow.
