We're experiencing some great summer fishing, the only problem is consistency. When tide and wind produce favorable conditions, we limit on reds and trout, working the shallows with gold weed-less spoons or Maulers trailing gulp shrimp, later moving out to deeper pot holes or the drop off to finish off our trout. Glow and molting are the go to colors this season. Freddy says, "There's a ton of floating grass on the west side, so you need to be sure to slow your retrieve enough to allow the lure to drop below the surface of the water. When you get deeper the grass problem is no longer an issue." The flounder bite this year continues to exceed expectations after a dismal '07. We're also seeing species that don't show up in our immediate area during other times of the year, such as pompano, black-tip and tarpon. Summer fishing is perfect for taking the kids out on the LLM. The bay is calmer and trout stack up in deep water where small hands can manage a cork/gulp for a family memory that will last a lifetime
