Night Striped Bass was very slow and tough last night. The Bass did not want to bite on the outgoing tide, so we put some extra time in and fished the incomming tide, but they did not want to bite either. We ended up with some Blue Fish, and a 8Lb Fluke caught by Mr Bob Wehl from Massepequa New York. Hopefully fishing will heat up for tonight!

Coxes Ledge Giant Cod Trip-Just like the old days. Click here for the photos from today. http://www.vikingfleet.com/gallery/gallery.asp?categoryid=825
The Viking Star returned from todays fishing trip with cod fish hanging around the boat. The day started off with a lot of action and some big fish coming over the rails. In the end there was a total of between 60-70 keepers for the 17 anglers including 12 fish over 20lbs and 2 in the 30lb class. The boat had good action on both bait and jigs. The crew also marked a lot of fish scattered along coxes ledge with lots of bait and line action in the area. Honourable mention must be given to Captain James from the Rosie who went home today with 8 cod up to 18lbs!! Ron Johnson and Phill Bloom also went home with a dozen fish which weighed up to 30lbs. The winner of todays pool was Lou Mercica of White Stone NY who had a cod which weighed in at 30.95lb. Good job Lou!!
All in all it was a great trip with a fantastic group of guys! Once again Captain Steven Jr. Captain Carl and Steve Martinez would like to thanks everyone for coming out today and making this trip possible. Next week we will be sailing at the earlier time of 2am. Be sure to call the office and reserve your spot for next weeks action!!

Full Day Porgies and Sea Bass
Captain Dave reports that there was a slow down on Porgy action today. The boat stayed out there until after 2pm and most anglers caught their limit. The pool was won by Stanley Thompson of Bridgeston NJ with a 3.35lb Porgy.
Half Day Fluke AM
First mate Tess reports that on the first few drifts this morning we picked at the Fluke and came up with a couple of keepers. Later on in the morning action heated up and we caught a lot of fish, sadly most were shorts and then all action died by the last drift of the morning. Hopefully this afternoons trip sees an improvement. The pool was won by Daniel Nicklas of Eastchester NY with a 3.6lb Fluke. Second prize went to Jason Wolfer of Westchester NY with a 3.4 pounder.
