Sterling Harbor Bait and Tackle Weekly Fishing Report 6/22/08

Flounder Fishing remains excellent in the Back Bays with a lot of shorts in the mix. Flounder have started to show at the Old Grounds and the Cape May Reef; again, there are lots of shorts but some nice keepers in the mix. Ernie Divincenzo, of Sewell New Jersey had a nice catch of keeper Flounder
up to 3 pounds from the Cape May Reef while fishing on his boat Next Generation. Angler, Michael Brabazon of Philadelphia. PA weighed in a 21 pound Monkfish he caught at the Cape May Reef while fishing with Ernie on the Next Generation. Some small Sea Bass are starting to show at the Cape May Reef.

At the Canyons, there are reports of Yellowfin Tuna, Blue Marlin, White Marlin and Dolphin. Frank Hennigan of Downingtown, PA had 12 Yellowfin to 60 pounds at the Wilmington Canyon. Dennis Joiner of Cape May Court House, NJ weighed in a 40 pound Tilefish caught on the Blue Hoagie at the Wilmington Canyon. Boats are reporting Bluefin Tuna while trolling at the 19 Fathom Lump and the Hambone.

In the surf, nice fish are being caught along the beaches in North Wildwood and Wildwood Crest. Ray Pashuk of Wildwood, NJ weighed in a 21 pound Striped Bass from the North Wildwood suds.

On the Kayak Fishing scene, Chris Parson, a.k.a. the Fish Whisperer, of Green Creek, NJ reported small Weakfish and Stripers in the early mornings outside of Cold Spring Inlet. Big Frank Scirrotto, of Cherry Hill, NJ had a nice catch of Flounder fishing dock lights at night from his Hobie Outback. Billy Bittman, of So. Dennis, NJ has been catching small Stripers along the Sod Banks, mainly in the evenings.
