Friday June 6th

Capt. Mike reported another very solid day of local fluke fishing aboard the Lady Frances. Nothing big but once again plenty of quality fish with the largest around 5lbs. Mr. Pak had his limit out of a catch of nearly 30 fish while Song from New Jersey had 5 fine keepers to take home. The fish took a lot of finessing to catch today as there was little to no drift. Far and away hi lo rigs and or a 1z buck tail fished with a teaser above it was the way to go today. One angler working a tandem bait rig also had some good fish but he lost and missed so many more. A tremendous amount of fish that were just short today, the good news is those fish will be keepers by the middle of summer. A few good sea robins mixed in today but otherwise it was all fluke. Next fluke trip will set sail tomorrow morning at 8am aboard the Admiral Frances.

Capt. Ray reported the squid fishing was very good last night. A slow pick which continued to build as the night went on. Most of the catch was big stuff, certainly the biggest tubes this angler ever remember seeing. Customers filled one half to three quarters of a bucket with a couple anglers doing even a bit better. This despite a very strong tide and gusty northeast wind which did not begin to abate until very late in the trip. Capt. Ray feels with the cool water temperatures the squid fishing should hold up for at least a good while longer. Next squid trip sets sail Friday night at 7pm aboard the Admiral Frances.
