Capt. Don reported the first half day morning trip of the year produced some outstanding fluke fishing. The small group of anglers aboard caught 25 nice keepers to 5lbs. Gino and his wife from New City, NY teamed up for 6 good fish to 5lbs while another angler had 5 keepers to 4.5lbs out of a total catch of 26 fish including a nice double header. Another group from Ct had 6 nice fish to nearly 4lbs to bring home. The action was solid all morning and was nothing short of fantastic the last half hour or so. All terminal gear was working well but the tandem bait rig and hi lo spro set up were deadly. A handful of keeper sea bass as well today.
Excited about the great fishing on the beach this morning. A couple Frances Fleet employees went out this afternoon for an hour and a half before the thunderstorms and reported the fishing was red hot. The three anglers totaled 35 fish of which 7 were keepers and all that in just an hour and a half!! Largest fish was just under 5lbs. It appears as though a new body of fish has moved on to the beach. There still is a ton of squid on the beach and all the fluke are full of them.
Capt. Rich reported another good day aboard the Gail Frances today, the 7am boat. Mike Jung had his limit of fish to 6lbs while Po from NY had his limit of fluke including the 7.5lb pool winner. A slow steady pick of nice fish today. There were several other limits as well. 100 pct fluke today, no sea bass. Next 7am trip sails tomorrow morning on the Gail Frances.
Capt. Don reported the 4pm half day fluke boat had a good night of fishing along the local south shore beaches. Anglers picked some nice keeper fluke and lots of shorts made for an action packed evening. Largest fish was around 4lbs. Next 4pm half day sails tomorrow evening aboard the Admiral Frances.
