Capt. Ray reported the squid fishing was improved last night. Some anglers did okay and some did not. The water was all cleaned up and the squid were everywhere, especially on the surface chasing spearing but they were somewhat hesitant in hitting the jigs. There was a lot of tide last night as well which may have also had something to do with the action. Nevertheless some anglers had upwards to a half bucket apiece. It was a beautiful glass calm evening on the water with balmy temperatures and the signs continue to show more and more life apearing all over the beach. The highlight of the evening was the 6lb fluke which inhaled a lucky anglers squid jig. Next squid trip sets sail Thursday evening at 7pm aboard the Admiral Frances.

Capt. Mike reported the local fluke fishing was very good today. It was like a whole different world today compared to yesterday. The morning featured some really excellent fishing and some exceptional fish. The bite tappered off in the afternoon but it was already a good day. The fish were more spread out today as well. Tom from Bayside, New York nailed a fine 10lb plus slab to today to go along with his 5 other nice keepers while Mike Jung from NYC nailed 4 good keepers including a brace of jumbos of 7 and 5lbs. A few other fish over 4lbs today and lots of other nice keepers spread throughout the boat with quite a few anglers getting 3 to 5 keepers each. Hi hooks caught as many as 30 fish each with the shorts back in abundance. Still plenty of squid all over the grounds and a lot of the fluke were loaded with sea lice indicating more fish moving into the area. Hi lo mylar flies and the hi lo bucktails and tandem bait rigs were the top producers and we noticed an increase in activity on the rental rods as well. Next fluke trip sets sail at 8am tommorrow morning.
