Blue Ocean Sportfishing Report 6/2/08

Sorry for the late reports:

We had the Mike Wienstein charter out last week in strong WNW winds blowing 20-25 and were forced to stay inside the local harbors. We had a slow pick of Fluke but unfortunately couldn't hook up with any bass as we had wind against tide most of the day and had to readjust baits. It took 6 ounces of lead to hold bottom while chunking. Mike and his friends were a great group of guys.
Next day I had Jeff Schulman and his 13 year old son Doug out here from Westchester. Conditions let up and we were able to get out into the sound. We worked hard to find some fish for them for 7 hours and covered a lot of ground. We ended the day with a few Bluefish, Schoolie Bass and Fluke to 19 Inches. We Trolled, Chunked and Drifted. Great day meeting and fishing with them. It felt GREAT to get little Doug on some fish; he is quite an angler! They treated us to an early dinner afterwards at a local restaurant which was just very nice of them. Thanks Jeff & Doug!!

Thursday night I had outdoor fishing writer Chuck Barbato out for some night bassing. Chuck is a great guy and as usual told a lot of funny stories. We ended the night with a couple of bass 22 - 25 lbs and went thru about 40 fresh pieces chunking. Thank you very much Chuck and hope to fish with you again.

We have open boat morning & evening trips this week, Monday thru Thursday so if any one would like to get out, just let me know. Friday & Saturday we are fishing the ASA Striper Tourney in Stratford, CT and thereafter we will be out in Shinnecock @ Oaklands for the remainder of the season for Inshore Charters & running Offshore Charters for Shark,Tuna, Mahi and Wahoo!!
