The memorial Day weekend is over and my shadow has finally found me. The fishing for the most part has been very good with a very nice class of fish both Dolphin and Wahoos each day. Friday found us fishing a group that fished with us a year ago and was used as a team building exercise even though they brought the kids with them. The bite was hot from 10:30 till the end of the day and ended as the best day the group had on the water. Lots of 30 to 40 pound Dolphin and Wahoos in the 20's and 1 39 pound King.
Friday group
Saturday the forecast was calling for 10 to 15 in the morning and increasing late in the afternoon. This party was a wedding present to the soon to be bride and groom. I think he found a keeper. We had just gotten all the lines out when I found a nice looking rip and as I crossed it 4 out of 9 lines snapped put of the clips and 3 nice Dolphin were hooked up. Worked that area some more with no bites and moved to deeper water. As I crossed one of my spots, long rigger snaps and we hook a Blue Marlin that comes unbuttoned before Warren could get someone in the chair…it's called fishing. Working out some more, found a nice weed line in about 300 feet of water. Trolled the line tight with no bites so I moved off of it a 100 yards and it was on. Whaoos went to snapping but we could not keep them glued, made a turn up current and the Dolphin went to snappen. Best run at them was 4 for 5 we hooked at one time. At 1:30 pm the wind jumped to 25 to 30 KTs and for the charters safety all of the charter boats felt that we should head for the hill and we did with a nice class and catch of fish.
Bride and groom to be.
Took Sunday off the ready the boat for Monday group and straighten up from the ride on Saturday. Monday had us with another group that charters us a few times a year and as always we have a great time with this group. Weather was beautiful, wind was about 10 KTs all day. as I pulled into where I wanted to fish, it looked like Wall Mart parking lot on Saturday afternoon. hating to fish in a crowd, I headed to the north for better water and less crowds. A large push of water had come in to the break on Sunday and the water temp was 80.7 degrees. Working to the north picked a Dolphin here and there and found this one in nowhere between one spot and another.
He was just over 40 pounds.
Picked up a very nice Wahoo in the high 30s when I got to the area where I wanted to fish and as I went to check an inshore wreck we found the Dolphin, a nice class of fish, 20 to 30 pounds for the most part. The crowd had a great time reeling and fighting fish for the last couple of hours of the day and we left them biting.
Here are a couple of the fish.
If your in our area, give me a call and stay tuned for near shore the Sailfish bite that will start up in July
