May 2008 Quepos Fishing Report

Just as we had hoped the bite has remained terrific through the close of April with Marlin Abound!

Keith Ruhr fishing On the Fly on Friday May 9 had a 350 lb. Blue Marlin that he fought for 3 hours on 20 lb. Test and had to the boat 2 times. He is heading offshore again today on the 10th on Idra hoping for another tangle with a Blue. Vicky Hulsberg fishing on Reel Deal this week released 3 Sailfish, 5 Mahi and about 30 Tuna some nice yellowfin and some small black.

Clients fishing the Reel Deal on the 18th landed 8 Sailfish and 2 Mahi, not bad for Louise Taylors 88 year old Mom! The Marlin Bite has been good as well with the Frenzy with a double hook-up on Marlin a Blue and a Black and just a few days before Frenzy landed a Striped Marlin on a Fly Rod. Clients fishing out of Los Suenos have remained consistent with 5 or 6 Sails per day per boat reports from the Good Day Too. Captain Adam Hermson says that the Marlin are moving in up in the Flamingo Area as well and they are seeing a pretty consistent Sailfish Bite as well. Client fishing Ocean Smasher released 2 Marlin, 3 Sailfish and some Dorado. Captains from Puerto Jimenez and Golfito saw a drop in the fishing around the moon but seems to be right back to good fishing.
