Guys, I just got back today. Been out and about for the better part of the last 2 weeks. Did our trip down to Hogsty Reef which was great, ending up back at our base in San Salvador, then hosted George Poveromo for a few days of fishing. All I can say, is that this is some of the best (if not the best) fishing we've seen over there. When i catch my breath, I'll give all the details, lots of photos, etc….

The sharks are absolutely awful right now…that's about the only bad thing I can think of….there are some monster tuna over there right now. We've boated fish to 60 pounds, but the big ones are all getting taken by the damn sharks. I would have to think that we are talking about fish in the 100# class. I battled several myself, and there was a very big difference in the fights between the smaller 40-60# fish and these bigger monsters…

Just got a note from Joe, and the fishing continued to be red hot this afternoon as well. Lots of big dolphin around, along with the tuna, and as you can see above, there are a couple of the larger hoos still lurking around. We saw 2 billfish the last 2 days, so they are starting to show up as well.

This was one of the (smaller class) tuna they got today, which went 61pounds. Keith looks beat in this photo and I know how he feels! I can't say I ever remember being physically sore from reeling on fish…but I can guarantee you the last few days literally wore me out! Maybe I'm just getting old…but here was a lot of heavy cranking going on for sure.

The Hoo went 113.2 pounds, was taken again on one of Ray's Lures (Rick's Fancy), which happens to be our favorite blue marlin Lure over there. We were fishing Penn 70's with 80# Suffix Main line and 200# leader (luckily we rig the Rick's Fancy's with cable under the skirts!).

ok…one more:

We jumped this school of tuna out in the middle of nowhere en route to Hogsty Reef. They ate everything we had out and we went 6 for 6.

There's much more about it at - HOGSTY REEF - Worth the Run?
