LURE OF THE WEEK: WHITE AND PINK TAIL SEA SHAD by Salt Water Assassin

Back Bay: Saturday is OPENING DAY for flounder! With plenty of nice fish already caught and released this season, expect a few nice fluke in your cooler this weekend. There is also plenty of 20" bluefish still around that will eat any bucktail or rubber lure put in front of them. Berkeley Gulp baits, along with Bass Assassins , have been proven deadly so far this season. Depending on the wind and tide, you will need leadheads and bucktails between 3/8 and 1 oz to present your bait. Do you think you have the knack for big flounder!! Do you want to see Avalon bring back the trophy? Do not forget to enter the Townsends' Inlet Reef Fluke Tournament on Mat 31st, the Saturday after Memorial Day, that pits the best fishermen in Avalon and Sea Isle against each other for bragging rights all season long! Finally, there are still a few large weakfish around, typically caught after dark, for those willing to explore local bridges and sod banks.

Surf and Jetty: Since the nor'easter last week, fishermen soaking clam on the 8th Street Jetty have caught striped bass, including a few keepers! With colder water temperatures expected after this hard west wind, we should be seeing kingfish anyday now and we have bloodworms and Fishbites in stock. Bloodworms are also a great way to catch weakfish traveling around the bridges and back bay areas.

Avalon Fishing Pier: Some bluefish have been caught using mullet and clam. Great news long time member Bill Hagans caught 2 keeper bass of the pier yesterday 5/21/08. His biggest weighted in at 14.10#. Good job.

MORE REPORTS WILL BE POSTED AS THE WINDS CALM AND MORE FISHERMEN GET A CHANCE TO HIT THE WATER AGAIN.
