Fishermen continue to find better flounder fishing each week as flounder move through the inlet area and spread out through the back bay areas. The area around the Route 90 Bridge, the East Channel, Route 50 Bridge, Thorofare and Sinipuxent Bay near the airport have all been good places to catch flounder this past week. At the Inlet/Route 50 Bridge area fishermen continue to enjoy good fishing for tautog from the bulkheads and jetties; using pieces of green crab and frozen sand fleas. Small to medium sized bluefish continue to move back and forth through the inlet and fishermen have been catching them on Got-Cha lures. A few striped bass are being caught and those numbers will certainly get better shortly as more fish move into the area as they migrate up the coast.

Surf fishermen are finally starting to see some large striped bass in the surf from Ocean City to Assateague. It will only get better as hungry migrating striped bass move along the coast on their northward migration. Spiny dogfish and clear-nosed skates are of course part of the mix and unfortunately are part of the price of fishing cut bait in the surf these days. Fishermen using small rigs baited with bloodworms or small cut baits have been catch some kingfish and medium-sized bluefish have been biting on finger mullet rigs.

Fishermen who have been venturing out to the wreck sites and artificial reef sites on the party boat fleet out of Ocean City have been reporting double digit catches of sea bass this week and good catches of large tautog.
