Hard to believe Memorial Day Weekend is in the rear view mirror. Summer is coming. It is a great time to fish here in Coastal Delaware. It is less crowded because the kids are not out of school yet.
A big thanks to everyone that came out and made our Annual Tent Sale another great success. Hope you didnt miss it.
It was a very good weekend for fishing. We are experiencing an excellent run of striped bass fishing in the Indian River Inlet. The last few hours of the daytime incoming tide has been producing citation stripers. Storm lures and bucktails are the best daytime baits while eels are working at night.
Ronald Davis, of Lewistown PA had a great weekend posting 36 and 31 pound stripers from the rocks. Bob Holton, of Conestoga PA, weighed a 20 plus pounder as well.
The biggest trout we have seen in a while was brought in by Clarence Trego (Lancaster PA). It tipped the scales at a healthy 12 pounds. We have noted before that what little trout run of trout we get anymore is going to start in late May and last about 2 weeks.
Still some doormat flounder to report. The water is cool and is holding the big fish in the bays longer than usual. Vincent Fioravanti, of New Castle DE, landed a whopper weighing 8 pounds 5 ounces. It measured more than 27 inches.
Notice to Anglers: Effective May 11 the minimum size for flounder increased from 18 inches to 19.5 inches. The daily limit remains at 4 fish.
We are still carrying live green crabs even though the Delaware tautog season is closed. Many people are buying crabs (and lead because we are cheaper - 25 cents an ounce versus 30 cents an ounce plus tax) here on the way to Ocean City. The current limits in OC are two fish at 14 inches.
Live sand fleas are beginning to become available. Its sporadic right now.
Notice to Anglers: Effective May 12 Tautog season will be closed in Delaware waters through June 30.
Water on the beach is colder than usual for this time of the year. That means the sharks are still here. There are some blues and kingfish around but not like they should be right now. As cool as the water is there ought to be a striper poking around in the wash.

Fishing License Info
The new license requirement is in effect as of the first of the year. A license is now required for saltwater fishing in Delaware waters. You can get your license here at Old Inlet. Delaware law requires your social security number to get a license. We CANNOT issue the license without it. A passport or work/education visa can be used in leiu of a SSN for foreign born anglers. Also, if you are getting a boat license you will need to show your current boat registration.
You can find out more about the license requirements on the DE Fish and Wildlife website:
