Friday April 4th

Captain Steven Sr. just returned from the first trip to Stellwagen for 2008. Unfortunatly conditions were against everyone due to the water temp, water clarity and a big ground swell out of the northeast. The bite seemed to be at the end of the tides and fortunatly we were there for 2 tide changes on the first day and one the following day. During the first tide change we were lucky enough to catch Cod and a few Haddock. On the 2nd we had a lot of Haddock and a few Cod. During the night a few guys who stayed up ended up catching a mix of Haddock and Cod. On the second day it started off slowly but as the tide was favorable we had a steady pick of Haddock and a few Cod. All in all not a great trip but everyone went home with some fish in their coolers. An honourable mention goes to Mavros Bennis of Montauk who fished the entire trip without sleeping and ended up with 21 Haddock and 6 Cod. Umar Butt of Stonybrook left with 17 Haddock and 5 Cod. Umar caught about 8 of his fish during the night when most guys were sleeping and was actually the pool winner with an 11lb Haddock. Captain Steven Sr. thinks that the signs are very promising and that it is only a matter of time before Stellwagen breaks open. We are sold out for next weekends Stellwagen Trip but there are still some openings on April 18ths Trip.
