My brother Jonathon and I picked up the boat from Old Saybrook, CT 4/23/08 and made the run back 55 miles to Northport NY through the LI Sound. Sweet ride back in near 70 degree weather and the sound was like glass with a lite SW wind.

4/24/08 did a recon mission for bait in the Western LI Sound. Worked back bays in Huntington and Cold Spring Harbor. Found some Bunker (pogies) scattered and had a few schoolie bass on top water plugs….water temp 53-56. Marked a few bait balls in the mid water column down 25 or so feet…just out of reach to get a net on(for me at least).

4/25/08 Hit the further Western LI Sound Bays and Harbors burning 50 gallons or so. Went as far west as Little Neck Bay near the Throgs Neck Bridge and worked Hempstead Harbor. Water Temp dropped to 52-54 and not much life top water. My brother and I spent some time working a jetty on both the windward and lee sides and had fun.

4/26/08 Hit the outgoing at 4AM. Anchored and sent out chunks looking for local bass. Moved around a few times. Marked a few but couldn't get them to chew. Saw our first sunrise on the water of the season though and that was good. Headed in at 8 AM when the wind picked up hard 20-25 out of the East.

4/27/08 Headed out again earlier this time for the last of the incoming at 3AM. Finally rewarded with 6 small knockdowns and a respectable 38 inch bass for this time of year up here. Water temp 53.6 degrees.

Here are a few pics. Will be out again mid week when this system passes us by up here.

Tight Lines all.
